The MIT Quest for Intelligence is seeking a Software Engineer to join our talented engineering team. This position will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the Brain-Score platform, which evaluates computational models on their alignment to neural and behavioral data from biological experiments. We believe this platform can become a truly field-defining resource for the brain and cognitive sciences. Brain-Score allows modelers to quickly test how brain-like their neural network models are, and experimentalists to test how well their data is matched by the current state-of-the-art models of primate vision and language.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale full-stack software systems
- Experience with either machine learning software development and infrastructure, or neural and behavioral data analysis
- A master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Neuroscience, or related field
- Comfort with Git-based version control, CI/CD, and writing unit tests
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, in both personal interaction and clean, well-documented code
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintain all software components of the Brain-Score platform: brain and behavior benchmarks (data and metrics), candidate models, website, and automated submission platform
- Support users in the MIT Quest for Intelligence and worldwide to contribute new models and new benchmarks
- Work closely with graduate students and postdoctoral fellows on specific research thrusts in the form of new metrics, data and computational models
- Develop new features such as live updates on model scoring, automatic incorporation of benchmarks from new neural recordings, and preparing the platform for community-wide competitions
- Organize, plan, and execute the future development of the Brain-Score platform
