Nancy Kanwisher

Nancy Kanwisher is the Walter A. Rosenblith Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience in MIT's Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. Her research focuses on identifying and characterizing regions in the human brain that conduct specific cognitive functions, including the visual perception of faces, places, bodies and words. Before coming to MIT, she was a faculty member at UCLA and Harvard University, and a MacArthur fellow in peace and international security. She has received the National Academy of Sciences' Troland Research Award, MIT's MacVicar Faculty Fellow Teaching Award and the Minerva Foundation's Golden Brain Award. She is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She earned a BS and a PhD from MIT.
