Synopsis

Dr. Martin Schrimpf is now a professor at EPFL in Switzerland. His research bridges natural and artificial intelligence with a focus on computational models of vision and language. These models aim for neural and behavioral alignment with primates and Martin's lab is investigating ways to use this research to help people, e.g. in clinical applications. 

 

Biography

Biography

From 2022 to 2023, Martin was a research scientist at the MIT Quest for Intelligence. Martin received his PhD from MIT, working with James DiCarlo on the neural mechanisms underlying object recognition. Before coming to MIT, he worked on natural language processing with Richard Socher at Salesforce Research, and on human pattern completion with Gabriel Kreiman at Harvard. Martin received his Bachelor and Master degrees from TUM, LMU, and UNA in Germany. He co-founded the non-profit startup Integreat, and previously worked at Siemens and Oracle Research.
