Biography

Biography

David Rand is the Erwin H. Schell Professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and an associate professor in MIT's Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences. His research combines computational models with human behavioral experiments to understand human behavior. He uses a cognitive science perspective to explore topics like cooperation, outrage, misinformation, political preferences, and social media platform behavior. Before coming to MIT, he was a postdoc at Harvard and an associate professor at Yale University. He earned a BA in computational biology from Cornell University, and a PhD in systems biology from Harvard University.
