Katherine Fairchild designs and builds models and infrastructure that support research in biological and artificial intelligence.
Katherine Fairchild is the Engineering Team Lead for the MIT Quest for Intelligence, where she has led and contributed to a wide array of projects, including a Monte Carlo-based COVID-19 risk model for the MIT campus, a simulated robotics environment, a platform for scoring computational models against brain benchmarks, and a web app for sharing research stimuli. She is especially interested in using the tools of AI to further understanding in neuro- and cognitive science. Her approach to software engineering is informed by a versatile background: she has worked in program management at Harvard University, machine learning for financial applications at State Street Corporation, and as a legal assistant. Katherine received a BA in Political Science from Dalhousie University and an MLA in Software Engineering from Harvard Extension School.
